Cooling off period

The period of time between the filing of a preliminary prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the actual public offering of the securities.

Cooling off period

The 14 day period during which a new policy holder can cancel an insurance/assurance policy. This is referred to in the cancellation notice which must be sent to people entering into long term policies. The 14 day period starts from receipt of the cancellation notice.
