Open outcry

A public auction system used for futures trading on the floors of futures exchanges where communication is by shouting and hand signals between traders. Commodity futures and some stock exchanges used to run an open outcry method of trading, but many of these are now computerised.

The method of trading used at futures exchanges, typically involving calling out the specific details of a buy or sell order, so that the information is available to all traders.
