Redistributed tariff revenueRefers to a common assumption that tariff revenue is given to consumers as transfer payments (not in proportion to what they paid by importing) to be spent like any other income. Since in general equilibrium the effects of a tariff depend on how the revenue is spent, this is a useful neutral assumption. |
